Dr. Jingen Chen is an internationally acclaimed pianist whose artistry has been praised by South Florida Classical Review for her “technical mastery and interpretive depth.” She has performed across three continents, appearing in major cities throughout China, as well as in Japan, Germany, and the United States.

She has appeared as concerto soloist with the Frost Symphony Orchestra, performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 at the Maurice Gusman Concert Hall under the baton of Emmy Award-winning conductor Alberto Bade. She was also chosen as a Frost Chopin Festival Fellow (2021, 2023), performing in the festival's culminating concerts alongside renowned pianist Kevin Kenner.

Dr. Chen’s international recognition began early. She won the Gold Prize at the 7th International Chopin Piano Competition in Asia, along with special awards. At age fifteen, she was selected by the Guangdong Musicians Association as the official demonstration performer for its provincial piano examination system. She recorded five DVD volumes covering the complete curriculum, with her performances serving as a standard reference for students throughout Guangdong Province.

 

She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music from the University of Miami Frost School of Music, where she studied with Kevin Kenner. She also earned an Artist Diploma from the Cleveland Institute of Music under Daniel Shapiro, and a Bachelor of Music from Xinghai Conservatory of Music, graduating first in her class with “Excellent Graduate” honors. Additional mentorship includes work with distinguished artists such as Gerard Schwarz, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Ewa PobÅ‚ocka, Dang Thai Son, Arie Vardi, and Zlata Chochieva.

Dr. Chen currently serves on the faculty of the University of Miami Frost School of Music Preparatory Division. She is an adjudicator for the National Federation of Music Clubs Festival and has been recognized as a “Top Piano Teacher” by Steinway & Sons.

​

She welcomes students of all ages and levels, from beginners to advanced pianists preparing for competitions and conservatory auditions. Drawing on her extensive performance and pedagogical experience, she is dedicated to helping each student develop their full artistic potential.
