Mission Statement

Miami House of Creative Arts LLC (HofCA) was created with the intent to design a musical education that feels the way home should feel like. We understand the music industry can be rather competitive. Our priority is to provide high quality instruction and equip students with the necessary tools to succeed, while also instilling a love for music that overcomes the boundaries we set on one another and on ourselves as human beings. We believe in our students and want them to not only grow professionally, but also to learn to believe in themselves.

Our Approach

We take a holistic approach to music education, looking at the whole individual rather than just their set of skills. Part of our approach when designing instruction is asset-based, focusing on what the student can do and building on those strengths so that they can feel confident and reach their full potential. We take a child-centered approach and encourage students to become agents of their own learning, while providing the guidance and professional support they need.

Teaches: Piano

Born in Pinar del Río, Cuba, Rosangel Perez began her piano studies at the young age of five. From her earliest lessons, she demonstrated both talent and perseverance, showing a deep commitment to music that set her apart. At age twelve, Rosangel and her family left everything behind and migrated to the United States. Though her family could not initially afford piano lessons, her talent was undeniable. After a brief audition at the University of Miami, she was awarded a scholarship to study with Dr. Rosalina Sackstein, a distinguished pianist and former student of Claudio Arrau. There, she also attended theory and ear training classes at the Frost Preparatory Program. Under Dr. Sackstein’s guidance, Rosangel underwent intensive technical training focused on sound projection—a transformative experience that permanently shaped her artistry. During this time, she began to shine as a performer, winning First Place in the Miami Music Teachers Foundation Competition.

Rosangel’s musical journey then took her to New Jersey, where she earned a scholarship to the Pre-College Program at Manhattan School of Music in New York. She studied with world-renowned pianists such as Golda Tatz, Lisa Yui, and Horacio Gutierrez, while continuing to distinguish herself in competitions and performances. Among her many accomplishments, she received the Josephine Fry Award (First Place) in the Piano Teachers Congress of New York Honors Program Competition and performed at Carnegie Hall. She also won Gold Prize in the International Virtuoso Competition, which gave her the opportunity to perform at the Kaufman Music Center in New York.

Returning to Miami, Rosangel was awarded a full scholarship to pursue a Bachelor’s of Music in Piano Performance at the University of Miami under the tutelage of the legendary Santiago Rodriguez (a former student of Adele Marcus) and the brilliant Naoko Takao. During her undergraduate years, she flourished both as a soloist and as an ensemble musician, collaborating with instrumentalists across disciplines and performing with large ensembles such as the Frost Symphony Orchestra, under Thomas Sleeper, and the Frost Wind Ensemble, under Robert Carnochan. Highlights of this period include her participation in the CBDNA Conference in Kansas City and numerous concerts at the University of Miami. Upon graduation, she was honored with the Outstanding Senior Award in Piano Performance, a distinction awarded to the top student in her graduating class for exceptional achievement in her major.

Beyond her performance accomplishments, Rosangel has cultivated a strong academic background. She earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Florida International University and a Master’s in Music Education with K-12 Certification from the University of Miami. During her teaching internship at Pinecrest Elementary School, under the mentorship of Cynthia Kohanek, Rosangel was recognized for her professionalism and excellence by receiving the Outstanding Student-Teacher Award, an honor given to just one candidate per cohort, highlighting her exceptional skill, leadership, and dedication to her students.

Rosangel has served as a faculty member at the Miami Conservatory of Music and Encore Academy of the Arts, and she is currently an Artist-in-Residence at the Coral Gables Museum. She is also a Steinway & Sons Educational Partner and shares her music as the organist and pianist for Sunday Mass at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Coral Gables. In addition, she remains an active performer in the local community, giving recitals and participating in concerts that enrich the cultural life of Miami.

With over 11 years of teaching experience, Rosangel is passionate about guiding students of all ages and levels in their musical journeys. Her goal is not only to help students grow as musicians, but also to inspire them to become more disciplined, expressive, and confident individuals. She believes that learning music should be an exciting and meaningful lifelong experience—one that enriches both the mind and the heart.
